Airbus E-Fan Specs, Engine, Cockpit, and Price

Airbus E-Fan Specs, Engine, Cockpit, and Price – E-Fan is an experimental two-seat electric aircraft designed and developed by Airbus Group in collaboration with other consortium partners. This aircraft was launched and conducted its first public flight demonstration at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport in France in April 2014. The aircraft was developed with the aim of flying clubs and schools and can be used to train professional pilots.

Flight tests on the E-Fan 2.0 prototype are currently underway, while development of the production version is expected to begin in June at a production facility near Bordeaux Airport. BpiFrance Public Investment Bank will provide some funds for development. Currently Airbus is also developing a four-seat version of the E-Fan 4.0 aircraft.

Airbus E-Fan Specs

E-Fan airframe construction is made from all-composite materials provided by the French company Aéro Composite Saintonge (ACS). This also includes a pyrotechnic parachute rescue system. The aircraft is equipped with a video camera mounted on the fuselage to provide security, maintain contact with the pilot and monitor flight parameters. The overall dimensions of the aircraft include a length of 6.67 m and a wingspan of 9.5 m.

The E-Fan aircraft are designed to meet flight and aeroclub training requirements, considering hangar parking spaces and flight endurance criteria. In addition, the development of aircraft also aims to meet emission standards set out in the European Commission report (Flightpath 2050) on the European Vision for Aviation. This report sets targets compared to the 2000 standard, which includes reducing aircraft carbon dioxide emissions by 75%, nitrous oxide emissions by 90% and noise levels by 65%.

The E-Fan landing gear wheel consists of two electrically movable wheels that are positioned fore and aft under the fuselage. It also includes two small wheels under the wing. The rear main wheels include an electric motor with 6 kW of power which provides transport and acceleration of up to 60 km / h when taking off. This device is designed to reduce overall power consumption during operation.

Airbus E-Fan Engine and Performance

The E-Fan is powered by two electric motors with a combined power output of 60 kW. The motor is equipped with two fans to distribute and increase static thrust, reduce perceived noise, and improve safety on the ground. The power source to drive the electric motor is provided by a 250 V lithium-ion polymer battery produced by KOKAM. Lithium polymer batteries are equipped with 120 cells with a rated capacity of 4V per cell in addition to a spare battery for emergency landing purposes. The battery pack is located on the wing of the aircraft and can be recharged in one hour.

The E-Fan is also equipped with a telemetry system, which records all parameters of the drive, battery and engine and transmits them to the earth station. E-Fan aircraft can fly with a cruise speed of 160 km / h and a maximum speed of 220 km / h. The endurance of the aircraft ranges between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

Airbus E-Fan Price

The price of an Airbus E-Fan electric aircraft ranges from US $ 167,000 to $ 222,800. But until now, Airbus has not given an official statement about the price of the aircraft, this is because the aircraft is still under development
