Spectrum S-40 Freedom Specs, Interior, Cockpit, and Price

Spectrum S-40 Freedom Specs, Interior, Cockpit, and Price – Spectrum S-40 Freedom is a twin-engine medium-scale business jet designed and built by Spectrum Aeronautical based in the United States. This business jet was developed based on the S-33 Independence business jet. Spectrum Aeronautical gave a contract to GE Honda Aero Engine in October 2006 to supply Honda HF-120 engines for integration into S-40 jets. The first S-40 aircraft was produced in June 2009. This will be the second aircraft in the series to be developed by Spectrum Aeronautical.

Spectrum S-40 Freedom

Spectrum S-40 Freedom Specs

Spectrum S-40 Freedom has a sleek and aerodynamic airframe design, to achieve more fuel efficiency compared to conventional business jets. The design of the three-wheeled undercarriage allows planes to take off from and land on muddy runways and short runways.

The aircraft body will be built with carbon fiber carbon fiber technology to improve durability, avoid corrosion, and optimize obstacles in flight. The unique combination of carbon fiber and epoxy will reduce the empty weight of the S-40 Freedom jet by 40%, compared to conventional aircraft made of aluminum.

Spectrum S-40 Freedom Engine

Spectrum S-40 Freedom will be powered by two HF120 turbofan engines, each producing 8.04 kN. The engine was designed and developed by General Electric Honda Aero Engine at their factory in Burlington, North Carolina. The length and diameter of the machines are 1.1 m and 0.53 m, respectively. The dry weight is 181kg. The time between repairing the engine is 5,000 hours.

The HF-120 turbofan engine features a dual-controlled ultra compact FADEC system, one-stage fan, two-stage compressor and two-stage turbine. It is equipped with advanced backflow burners and fuel nozzles to minimize fuel consumption, noise detected in the ground, and harmful emissions, such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC).

The S-40 Freedom can go up at a speed of 15.2m / s. The maximum speed of the S-40 Freedom is 815km / hour. The maximum range and service ceiling of the aircraft will be 4,170 km and 13.7 km, respectively. The take-off distance will be 914m, while the landing distance will be 822m.

Spectrum S-40 Freedom Cabin and Interior

Spectrum S-40 Freedom cabin has 6.4 m length, 1.8 m wide and 1.8 m high. The cabin can accommodate seven to nine passengers with extensive legroom. This will provide flight access to 80 cubic feet of volume available in the external baggage compartment.

The cabin will combine refresher centers, electronically shaded windows, private rear toilets, plug-in stations for electronic equipment, air conditioning systems, in-flight entertainment systems and 15 cubic feet of interior storage cabinets.

Spectrum S-40 Freedom Cockpit and Avionics

Spectrum S-40 Freedom digital cockpit will feature four high-resolution screens, including two 15.6-inch main flight screens and two 10.4-inch multifunction screens to showcase navigation data, flight instrumentation, fuel and machine-related to the flight crew.

Spectrum S-40 Freedom uses Primus Apex Honeywell Aerospace avionics suite. The avionics suite will include the AH-1000 attitude reference system, KXP-2290 S transponder mode, KGS-200 global positioning system receiver, KMA-29 audio panel, AZ-200 air data module, KTR-2280 and KMC-2230 digital multimode radio cursor control device.

Other avionics will include automatic flight control systems, field collisions and avoidance systems, field awareness alert systems, crew warning system and engine indications, aural warning computers, flight management systems, wide area augmentation systems, flight data recorders, cockpit voice recorders, situation seekers emergency transmitter, automatic dependent surveillance system, XM satellite weather radar and central aircraft maintenance system.

Spectrum S-40 Freedom Price and Orders

The latest Spectrum S-40 Freedom price is US $ 6.8 Million. Jet Pool ordered the S-40 Freedom jet fleet in February 2008. Other S-40 orders were received from Starfish Aviation in September 2008.
