Irkut MC-21 Specs, Interior, Cockpit, and Price – Irkut MC-21 is a short/ mid-range passenger aircraft developed by Irkut Corporation, a member of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant in Russia. Irkut is developing aircraft through its design and engineering unit, Yakovlev Engineering Center.
Irkut MC-21 passenger aircraft was launched in June 2016 and the first flight is expected this year. This will be offered in two variants, namely Irkut MC-21-200 and Irkut MC-21-300. Combining two engines, the aircraft will be a short to medium range jet with a capacity of 132 and 212 passengers.
With features such as advanced engines, the next generation of air systems and subtle aerodynamics, the Irkut MC-21 aircraft stood far ahead of its peers.
An important feature of Irkut MC-21 will be a 6,000-foot cabin, which is more advanced than Airbus and Boeing in a single-aisle market. Innovative vacuum infusion technology and the automatic carbon fill layup method were introduced in the manufacture of wing boxes for the first time in world flights.
The cumulative level of perceived aircraft noise and the level of emission performance of the Irkut MC-21 engine will conform to the standards set by ICAO. The aircraft is also expected to release 15-25% lower carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere per passenger seat than other aircraft currently in operation.
The noise level in the PW1400G-JM engine, with the third Turbofan Gear PurePower Geared motor that is certified, will be much lower than the current requirements according to ICAO. This machine is also expected to reduce NOx emissions by more than 40% compared to ICAO 2008 requirements, and CO2 emissions of 3,000tpa per aircraft.
To be provided by UEC, Russia, PD-14 will feature compressor rotor BLISK technology, FADEC automatic control system, and low emission combustion chamber.
Open architecture and standardization of hardware units and software will increase the reliability of the avionics system, while reducing power consumption, weight, size and life cycle costs. The aircraft will be equipped with high-accuracy navigation and sophisticated radio communication equipment to ensure safe operation even in adverse weather conditions.
Included as part of an integrated flight control system, fly-by-wire technology helps reduce aircraft weight and maintenance costs. This includes an active sidestick controller, which provides pilots with feedback about aerodynamic flight conditions and proximity warnings with operational limits.
The Russian Technologies State Corporation subsidiary, Aviation Capital Services, signed a $ 3.8 billion contract with IRKUT Corporation in August 2011 to supply 50 Irkut MC-21 aircraft, including 35 Irkut MC-21-300 and 15 Irkut MC-21-200, which will be delivered between 2017 and 2022.
In June 2012, Aviation Capital Services also ordered 35 additional short / medium-range Irkut MC-21 aircraft, equipped with PD-14 engines. With a price of $ 2.32 billion, the order is to procure 18 Irkut MC-21-200 and 17 Irkut MC-21-300 aircraft between 2022 and 2025.
The IFC leasing company signed an agreement with Irkut at the MAKS-2011 Air Show to purchase 50 Irkut MC-21 aircraft. Ilyushin Finance signed a strong contract with Irkut at the 2013 MAKS air show for the delivery of 22 Irkut MC-21-300 passenger aircraft starting 2019.
