Gulfstream G280 Specs, Interior, Cockpit, and Price

Gulfstream G280 Specs, Interior, Cockpit, and Price – Gulfstream G280 (formerly called G250) is a super midsize business jet designed and produced jointly by US-based Gulfstream Aerospace and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). G250 was renamed G280 in July 2011.

In March 2012, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) gave PTC to G280. The aircraft also received airworthiness certificates from FAA and CAAI in September 2012. Initial aircraft shipments began in November 2012 with the first aircraft sent to US-based customers.

Gulfstream G280 Specs

Gulfstream G280 is a modified version of the G200, built by upgrading the last aircraft with a sophisticated glass cockpit, new engines, larger wings, heated front edges, a longer cabin length, a new T-tail and four additional windows. Gulfstream G280 is the first aircraft equipped with an automatic brake system that improves passenger safety and comfort during takeoff and landing.

Gulfstream G280 has lit display compartments, spoilers, rudders, ailerons, elevators, microwave ovens, wingtip taxi lights, tail logo lights, and large waste compartments. It is also equipped with LED reading lights and tables, a proper flight-pulse lite system and a pressurized water system. Emergency locater transmitters (ELT), passenger address systems (PAS), installed oxygen generating systems (OBOGS) and iridium communication systems are also installed on aircraft.

IAI built aircraft, empennage and landing equipment at Ben Gurion Airport in Lod, Israel. Spirit AeroSystems is involved in making wings. The latest assembly of the G280 is being carried out by Gulfstream in its interior and paint factory in Dallas, Texas.

The aircraft was transported to the Mid-Cabin Cabin Perfection Center based in Gulfstream Dallas in August 2011 for final assembly and painting. He received a temporary type certificate (PTC) from the Israeli Civil Aviation Authority (CAAI) in December 2011.

Gulfstream G280 Engine

Gulfstream G280 is powered by two Honeywell HTF7250G turbofan engines. Each machine can produce a maximum thrust of 33kN. The inclusion of combustor SABER low emissions technology reduces NOx, CO and HC emissions.

The aircraft is equipped with engine nacelles, fire suppression systems and thrust reversals. It is also equipped with one additional power unit (APU) that can produce pneumatic and electric power on land or in flight.

G280 can fly with a maximum speed of 900 km / hr. The cruising speed is 850 km / hour. The aircraft service range and ceiling is 6,297 km and 13,716 m. The take-off distance is 1.512m. This jet weighs about 10,954 kg and the maximum takeoff weight is 17,963 kg.

Gulfstream G280 Cabin and Interior

Gulfstream G280 has a spacious and comfortable cabin with plenty of legroom for passengers on board. The cabin can accommodate ten passengers in two seating areas. This has been designed to provide passengers with on-flight access to the 120 cubic foot luggage compartment. The cabin has 19 panoramic windows.

The cabin has a large kitchen and a vacuum toilet system. The cabin management system controls the cab system through the use of a touch screen, capacitive touch switch, and passenger control unit (PCU). The aircraft floor area is 17-35% larger than conventional jets.

The cabin length and width are 7.87 m and 2.18 m, respectively. Its height is 1.9 m. The total interior length of the cabin is 9.83 m. Cabin volume and luggage are 26.5 cubic meters and 4.36 cubic meters.

Gulfstream G280 Cockpit and Avionics

Gulfstream G280 is equipped with a glass cockpit that can accommodate pilots and co-pilots. The flight deck is equipped with Collins head up (HUD II), enhanced visual system (EVS II) and synthetic vision (SV-PFD).

Both EVS II and HUD II allow pilots to see infrared images of the environment even under conditions of poor visibility. SV-PDF displays infrared images of adjacent fields, runway environments and obstacles in the main flight display during zero visibility conditions.

Gulfstream G280 is equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite that includes cursor control devices, moving map displays, standby multifunction controllers (SMC), flight management systems, automatic drop modes, dual auto-throttle systems, Jeppesen graphics and universal graphical weather stations.

The cursor control device reduces the pilot's workload. Situational awareness and pilot safety are improved using modern graphics, moving map displays and synoptic pages. SMC includes standby instruments and display controllers.

Gulfstream G280 Price and Orders

The price of the latest Gulfstream G280 is around US $ 25 Million. Gulfstream received G280 jet orders from Asia Jet in October 2010.
